For in six days the Lord made the heaven, earth, and sea, and everything in them, and rested the seventh day; so he blessed the Sabbath day and set it aside for rest. Exodus 20:11 TLB
On the sixth day, when God had finished creating the earth, “He looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good.” And on the seventh day . . . He rested.
So, if God saw fit to rest, is there any reason you can’t set aside a day of rest? Start here. Make a list of what you’re doing on Sunday: shopping, housework, laundry, yard work, phone calls, email, business appointments, office work. Then make a deliberate decision to do it Monday through Saturday. Reserve Sunday for physical and spiritual refreshment.
Need more convincing? Listen to the inspired and inerrant word of God delivered by the prophet Isaiah: “Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.” Isaiah 58:13-14 NLT
Set your heart deep in God. Find your rest in Him. Enjoy inner peace and quiet. Don’t miss God’s blessing! Keep Sunday special.
Shabbat Shalom.
