God is not interested in your offerings or superficial piousness. He is interested in your obedience. That includes observing the Sabbath (Shabbat).
We are commanded not only to remember the Sabbath but to keep it holy (Exodus 20:8). Shabbat is not merely a day of rest. The ritual of observing the Sabbath is God honoring worship.
Observing the Sabbath not only has an impact in your own spirtual formation, it can impact others, both through the witness of our obedience, and also through inviting others to share in our Sabbath worship. Listen to Dennis Prager on the importance of Shabbat:
“We affirm the Creator by not working on the Seventh Day. For that reason alone, our increasingly godless world needs people who will observe the Sabbath – and [who will] invite others to celebrate it with them.” (1)
So let us be a holy remnant, both as witnesses and through inviting others to share in our Sabbath. We can have no idea of the impact of our witness multiplied in the Providence of God.
