But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV
God’s plan and direction for living includes the admonition that “sufficient for the day is its own trouble:” Everything will be OK in the end (Note 1). If it’s not OK, it’s not the end.
But when we have one of those big almost overwhelming problems (or two), it is not entirely unreasonable to play “what if” into tomorrow. Or next month. Or next year. For those times, God’s word gives us this: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NKJV
Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due. So if you find yourself fretting and worrying about all the things that can go wrong in this or that problem, stop. If you live out today in obedience with God’s will for your life, whatever happens tomorrow will be for your good.
I don’t know what today might bring, but I know who brings the day.
